Grand Again – Main Bathroom Renovation
From sagging floors to royal opulent heritage, this bathroom is a true testament to the power of design and the beauty of a well-executed renovation.
The bathroom was gutted and started from scratch. The floor had collapsed and had to be repaired and strengthened before any work could start. Once that was done, the renovators set out to create a sensational space of luxury and sophistication.
Black and white is a timeless pairing that defies trends and fads. It represents the harmonious blending of stark contrasts to create a sense of refined elegance. The homeowner chose classic white subway tiles for the shower and bath splashbacks, and white paint for the walls and ceiling.
Dominating the room are clover-motif glazed porcelain floor tiles with a bold pattern that creates a continuous uninterrupted flow from piece to piece. The glossy finish of the glaze adds a luxurious sheen to the surface, reflecting light and creating a luminous effect that adds to the overall beauty of the tile.
As a throwback to bygone days, the ball and claw bathtub glimmers in white with a curved, glossy surface that beckons you to sink into its warm embrace and indulge in a long, relaxing soak. The faucets are discreetly placed at the far end of the bath, where they can be adjusted by hand or the tip of a toe.
The vanity was custom designed and built by the team at Kitchen Inspirations and features an inset basin and chrome fittings. For a touch of opulence, a black throne-type chair offers a shiny contrast in jet black, perfectly complementing the ornate details of the space. A chair made for royalty certainly adds a sense of grandeur to the room.
Angular lattice work on the glass shower doors leaves no doubt that this is a modern bathroom, fitted with state-of-the-art fixtures. For functionality, the shower features a floating glass shelf for holding soaps and an extractor fan in the ceiling that keeps the room fresh at all times.
Lighting is a vital part of any renovation and in this design, sunlight flows in through a large window. For after-dark, stunning hanging geometric pendants are placed in the center of the room and above the bath.
The homeowner has added a subtle touch color to finish the look. A plant in a black and white container on the vanity adds a touch of green, while a large floor-standing pot near the bath provides a splash of deep burgundy. You can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as you gaze around the room, knowing that you are in the presence of something truly special.
